Bakari Ukuu
Born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma Bakari relocated to London in the Autumn of 2019 to pursue a Master’s degree in Education and International Development from UCL.
He is currently an Impact Manager at Big Change, where he oversees the grant portfolio and leads grant funding operations. Prior to joining Big Change, Bakari served as a Programme Manager at the US-UK Fulbright Commission and has also enjoyed a nearly decade long career as a certified educator serving in a variety of roles in both the USA and the UK.
In addition to his work as an educator, he has held multiple leadership roles for non-profit education organisations including serving as a member of the National Advisory Board for The Collective, Teach for America, being a founding board member of the Kansas City Public Schools Education Foundation, and co-founding The BLOC-KC .
Bakari is passionate about leveraging his diverse skills and experiences to make a positive social impact and is excited about the opportunity to serve as a ROTA Trustee.
