ROTA launches discussion paper on Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and London’s BAME communities

Between November 2011 and February 2013, ROTA delivered the Shaping the Future seminar series, which considered educational reforms and the current state of play in terms of educational inequality. A concerning discussion point that came up at many of the seminars was that growing numbers of BAME children and young people are being diagnosed with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and pressurized to take medication by healthcare professionals and schools.

The Review Recommendations Published - PARTIAL VICTORY

A big thank you to all of you who signed ROTA’s petition on the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) and for supporting our campaign to save the PSED.

The independent Steering Group of the PSED review published its recommendations on 6 th September. Your voice and support has ensured there are no recommendations to remove the Public Sector Equality Duty. This is great news but we have not won yet!

The Steering Group has recommended that the government explore alternate means to judicial review to resolve disputes relating to the Equality Duty. The government has now launched...Read more
