Applications are now open for the third year of the ROTA Community Research Partnership. 

Following on from our 2025 report launch in February, we are excited to be partnering with a new cohort of Peer Researchers for 2026.  

This year, we are seeking applications from London-based researchers who wish to conduct research in the areas of migration and the criminal justice system. 

Applications close, 5pm 20 April. 

We are seeing the increasing use of artificial systems in our institutions. These include our policing systems through rollout of facial recognition.

Our Healthcare system where AI has been found to de-prioritize Black patients by using health costs instead of actual need to assess care requirements.  

This session on Responsible AI and race will emphasise the importance of equitable technology development and deployment that considers the diverse experiences and needs of all Black and Global majority communities. 

Over the past few months, Brick has kept its focus on what often gets pushed to the margins—lived experience, voice, and the power of storytelling. These tools have the ability to reshape housing.

Our refreshed project page brings together key insights from our advisory group. It also showcases a growing collection of animations that carry these stories forward. The first in this series focuses on young Black people experiencing homelessness in the United Kingdom. It centres voices often absent from the conversation, yet closest to the realities shaping it.

There are likely around 800,000 young carers in England alone, yet only a fraction are formally recognised by institutions or recorded in official data.

Over the past decade, young carers have become increasingly visible in policy conversations across the UK. Schools, local authorities, and third-sector organisations are becoming more aware of their responsibilities to identify and support young people with caring roles.

This progress matters. But recognition is not the same as understanding.

In collaboration with the Greater Manchester Coalition of Disabled People (GMCDP), the Alliance for Inclusive Education (ALLFIE) is bringing together Disabled People’s Organisations, young Disabled people, activists, and allies to launch and mobilise a powerful regional movement for Inclusive Education.

Write to your MP and raise urgent concerns about the impact of proposed government SEND reforms.

ALLFIE believes that every Disabled child and young person has the right to learn, belong, and thrive in Inclusive Education alongside their peers. Yet Disabled children and young people are being pushed out, and the UK Government’s proposed SEND reforms risk deepening this injustice and increasing segregation.

Inclusive Education is a right, not a privilege. These proposals threaten that right for Disabled people.

Take action now. Write to your MP and raise urgent concerns about these SEND reforms and their impact on Disabled children and young people.
