Issue 82 - April 2025

Dear Members, Partners, and Supporters,

Welcome to the latest edition of the ROTA newsletter. It is a privilege to have such a powerful membership base who work collaboratively with us on the mission of racial justice.

We continue our work supporting the current and next generation of Black and Global Majority researchers through the RCRP programme.

This is vital work that addresses racial inequalities in research and policy professions through funded training and peer research. We are also engaging with our partners on reimagining participatory research in the charity sector.

We continue to work with our partners on a radical reimagining of housing as not only an asset but as a basic human right. We are increasing our activities on health with new work emerging on race and nutrition, while engaging with multiple stakeholders at the NHS Confed Expo 2025.

We look forward to collaborating with you as we continue to keep race on the agenda.

Matthew Johnson, ROTA Chief Executive

Talking About Race podcast, episode 5 coming this month

After a brief hiatus, our podcast, Talking About Race, will return this month with a new episode.

We will be joined by guests Maymuna Osman from Migrants Organise and Lara Parizotto from the Migrants Democracy Project.

One year on from the tightening of the skilled worker visa, we will be exploring how narratives around migration have changed, or stayed the same, over a year which has seen a new government in the UK, a right-wing resurgence across the globe, and the racist riots last August.
