We are delighted to announce the launch of the first ROTA Community Research Partnership (RCRP), a groundbreaking initiative enabled through funding from Propel, aimed at advancing race equity through community based peer research.
For 2024, we are focussing on the fields of education and employment.
After an extensive selection process, we are pleased to confirm the recruitment of 10 exceptional Peer Researchers. These dedicated individuals will undertake vital research within their own communities, addressing a wide range of issues, including the experiences of Black women in the workplace, racially minoritised and disabled pupils in schools, and migrant groups in British universities. Their work will provide invaluable insights and contribute to shaping policies and practices that promote fairness and opportunity for all.
You will be able to hear more from our Peer Researchers themselves as their individual research projects develop. For now, we extend our sincere congratulations to our new Peer Researchers, and look forward to supporting them as they embark upon this important journey.
The RCRP is a testament to our commitment to grassroots involvement and evidence-based advocacy. By empowering community members to conduct this research, we ensure that the voices and experiences of those most affected by racial inequities are at the forefront of our efforts. We will be running the programme for at least the next three years, focussing on housing, health, and wellbeing in 2025, and migration and the criminal justice system in 2026.
