Since the 1976 Race Relations Act brought by Jim Callaghan's Government there has been a disparity between the protection offered to followers of different religions. In the 1976 act, protection was given to Jews and Sikhs.
This has always seemed an area where a Labour Government should bring equal treatment to members of all religions and close the loophole where far-right groups will spread hatred about Muslims but will not attack race directly due to the provisions of the 1976 act...
