Rosita Caspersz
I am currently the Senior Commissioning Officer for Special Educational Needs and Disability at London Borough of Camden.
I am knowledgeable about social policy, especially educational policy, nationally, regionally and locally. The aim of the Centre for Educational Success is to raise the educational attainments of children and young people from BME communities, focusing on those from black Caribbean, black African, Pakistani and Bangladeshi backgrounds. I have been with BTEG since May 2007.
Most of my career has been spent in the public sector. BTEG is my first experience of the voluntary sector.
I started work as a secondary history teacher and then moved to working in the field of special educational needs and inclusion. I have worked in various roles in local authorities. I have been a manager of specialist teachers working in schools with pupils with learning, behaviour, physical and sensory difficulties and manager of local authority special needs services. Most recently I was a senior policy officer with responsibility for developing and implementing the extended schools strategy in a north London borough. I have worked in higher education as a lecturer and researcher and presently supervise students doing MA dissertations.
I have experience of leading on policy development and implementation, budget and staff management. I have been a school governor for over 10 years and currently serve on the governing body of a primary special school in Ealing.
