Ask your MP to sign the ‘Early Day Motion’ on the Public Sector Equality Duty.

What is an Early Day Motion?

Early Day Motions (EDMs) are formal motions submitted for debate in the House of Commons. However, very few are actually debated. EDMs allow MPs to draw attention to an event or cause. MPs register their support by signing individual motions. See the motions here.

Parliament notes the review of the Public Sector Equality Duty now in progress; believes the Duty, albeit only recently introduced, has considerable potential to achieve the goals of eliminating all forms of discrimination, harassment or victimisation, advancing equality of opportunity, and fostering good relations; recognises the value placed upon the Duty by public bodies, non-governmental organisations and others; and calls on Ministers to reaffirm their commitment to the Duty and to supporting public bodies in implementing it effectively. See the motion here.
