Dr Richard Stone OBE

Dr Stone was a panel member of the 'Stephen Lawrence Inquiry' into racism in policing (1997/99) as Adviser to the judge Sir William Macpherson.

He was also on the panel of the 2003/04 NHS 'David Bennett Inquiry' into the death of a Black patient during restraint in the white-staffed medium secure psychiatry unit in Norwich.

His 'Independent Review of the Stephen Lawrence Inquiry 10 years on' (www.stoneashdown.org) was launched by the Justice and Home Secretaries at their 10th anniversary conference in February 2009.

He is currently writing a book due for publication early in 2012, called 'Hidden stories of the Stephen Lawrence Inquiry - how the agenda of a major Inquiry gets undermined'

For 20 years Dr Stone was senior partner of a five-doctor group practice in Notting Hill & Bayswater, Central London.

He is an Honorary Fellow of the Cambridge academic 'Centre for Muslim-Jewish Relations'. For 14 years he has worked with British Muslims as chair of the Islamophobia Commission, set up by the Runnymede Trust in 1996. In 2004 he founded Alif-Aleph UK (British Muslims and British Jews).

In 2010 he was awarded an OBE for 'public and voluntary' service.
